2014 is finally here! And it seems in our excitement to announce the new Spring color we may have jumped the gun just a little.
While it’s true Pantone has released a complete palette of colors for the year, apparently only one is exceptional enough to be considered this years spring color.
And that honor goes to Radiant Orchid! You may have heard about this hot little Pantone number (PQ-18-3224 TCX) when it made an appearance on this Season’s Project Runway All Stars. The color is warm and blooms with confidence and emanates feelings of Joy and Love. According to Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute “… Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,”.
Although in some senses it can be quite a bit more impactful than our top pick of Dazzling Blue there are also tints of Radiant Orchid that showcase it’s quiet, softer side.
The color has even been lovingly adopted by First Lady Michelle Obama who wears the color prominently in several of her ensembles. And it has even made hinted appearances in menswear, being incorporated into ties and trims by Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermengildo Zengna.
We’re excited to see how Radiant Orchid weaves it’s way into the design world this year and encourage clients and designers alike to embrace this innovative color. Pairing it with complimentary brights such as the aforementioned dazzling blue or contrasting it against stand down monotone colors like charcoal and navy. Radiant Orchid just so happens to make a great subdued pop color on imprints and trims.
